Mandatory Paid Sick Leave to Pass Next Session?

After hearing two business group leaders dump on the paid sick leave proposal from last session, Sen. Ed Kasemeyer, chair of the Senate Budget and Taxation Committee, told a Howard County Chamber of Commerce breakfast Wednesday that the paid sick leave bill was bound to pass this term, and business leaders should try to make it as palatable as possible.  Kasemeyer said, “My job is to be realistic and practical.”

It should be noted, however, that when business leaders have attempted to make the bill palatable, those amendments to the bill have been swiftly voted down.

The Maryland Reporter provides an account of the hearing and Kasemeyer's comments.
