The Pew Research Center recently released some interesting survey results concerning the balance between the working conditions and the pay that companies provide their employees and the bottom line costs for consumers.

The survey can be summarized as follows:

  • Around one-half of Americans feel that it is important to support businesses that treat employees well;
  • Many Americans, however, say that finding out how a business actually treats their employees if often difficult; and
  • Finally, and arguably the most interesting take away, more than tow-thirds of those surveyed would like to support companies that compensate their employees well and that provide favorable work environments, those same respondents cannot justify the additional cost associated with the goods or services from those companies.
